THE NEW MALCOLM HARDEE AWARD At the 2010 Edinburgh Fringe, the two existing annual Malcolm Hardee comedy awards will be joined by a third annual award. So the three awards will be: 1) The Malcolm Hardee Award for Comic Originality 2) The Malcolm Hardee Cunning Stunt Award for best Fringe publicity stunt 3) The new Malcolm Hardee 'Act Most Likely to Make a Million Quid' Award. There are no rules. If anyone can juggle cooked spaghetti for more than 60 seconds at noon in Teviot Square during the Edinburgh Fringe, organiser John Fleming will give them a special one-off award to be decided. Possibly 13 pints of beer. |
MALCOLM HARDEE AWARD BY A WARD AWARDED AN AWARD At the annual Fringe Report Awards at the Leicester Square Theatre in London on 8th February, the equally annual Malcolm Hardee Awards won an award because, according to the citation, they "have injected a much-needed serum of anarchy into the taking-it-way-too-seriously world of performance awards". Malcolm might have re-phrased that as "because they take the piss a bit"... The Awards are designed by John Ward. Also receiving an award on the evening was Lewis Schaffer, the 2009Malcolm Hardee Cunning Stunt award-winner for best publicity stunt at the Edinburgh Fringe. At the Fringe Report Awards, he likewise won an award for 'Best Publicity Stunt'. Lewis, a New York Jew, was unable to attend so naturally chose Frank Sanazi to accept the award on his behalf - that'll be the Frank Sanazi who looks like Adolf Hitler and sings like Frank Sinatra...
